ABOUT THE PROGRAM & BANDS

The Young Band Nation Advanced Industry Training Program is made up of Baton Rouge area teens who are students of Baton Rouge Music Studios (BRMS) which is an academy of music performance and entertainment technology. BRMS created the program Young Band Nation in order to provide a way for students in private music lessons to put their learned skills to use in ensemble settings. Most of the bands learn and perform rock and pop from the last 50 years. The Advanced Industry Training Program is a special (audition and/or invite only) project within the Young Band Nation program. The goal is to group BRMS students who are the most serious about pursuing a career in the music industry, and to get them started building resumes early. By primarily performing Louisiana music and some of today's most popular music, opportunities to perform have become highly accessible to the students, and the educational mission of BRMS to "enlighten Louisiana youth to the hipness that is Louisiana music" is also being fulfilled. The YBN Blues Project has performance at some of the areas most historic clubs, venues, and festivals, including Festival International in Lafayette and The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. This project is a true gigging band, and the students are learning a lot about many of the situations that lie ahead of them in the professional world when they transition from BRMS into the industry.
